Incentives

By answering questions in this section of the Business Navigator, you will learn more about incentives and resources that can help your business thrive in California.

Key terms

Incentives - Incentives encourage business growth and investment, and include grants, tax credits, loans, financing programs, and training reimbursements.  This section of the business navigator also provides information on other resources that may encourage business growth, including the state’s Innovation Hubs (iHubs), research centers, and entrepreneurial programs.

Research and Development – research and development consists of research undertaken to discover information which is technological in nature and which will be used to develop a new or improved business component.

Industry-specific Incentives – while some incentive programs apply to all business types, other incentive programs are targeted at particular types of businesses. As one example, advanced transportation companies can access funds from the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority.
